11. Testimony of Lubna Al-shindy, 37, Mother of
Martyr Owda:

During the offensive, we rented a storehouse
where we could spend the night and go back home
during daytime. We were quite afraid because in the
2008 Israeli aggression, my husband was injured
when Israel targeted Al-Hayah family. His injury
was so severe. Thus, we did our best to stay in a safe
place. My husband said, ‘I do not want any harm to
happen to my kids. What happened to me in 2008
was never easy. I don’t want them to suffer.’
On Tuesday, my 18-year-old son Owda had
his breakfast at his auntie’s house and came back
home at about 11:30 am. He spent some time with us
and went out for a while. He was killed meanwhile.
The moment he left the house, I heard a
huge explosion! It was him! I knew it was him but
never thought he would be killed.
Everyone told me that Owda was injured.
I was not able to believe my ears. I just didn’t
want that to happen! But that moment, when they
informed me about his injury, I said, ‘No! My son
was killed. I knew it.’
I was in a miserable condition that they all
insisted on convincing me that he was still fine. My
uncle came to me and said, ‘Owda is fine.’ I looked
him in the eyes and said ‘no’. I knew he was lying to
me. That moment, I really prayed for God to grant
me patience. I really needed it.
