We were fishing when a flock of
swallows covered the view in front of us. It was
first time for Yahya sees this kind of birds! He was
so happy. I told him I’d hunt one for him. I had to
set my hunting net up high. I went to bring some
palm fronds to set the net for the birds, and when
they went a few meters far, Israeli warplanes fired a
missile towards me.
I don’t know what happened. I just found
myself in the hospital lying on the bed. The last
scene I remember was my son running on the beach
out of fear when I was not able to save him. What a
shame!
While in the hospital, I knew I had lost my
right foot and most importantly, I lost him; I lost
Yahya.
8. Testimony of Huda Awad, 36, Mother of
Martyr Yahya:1
At 9:30 am, I received a phone call from
Al Awda Hospital ambulance telling me that my
husband Mohammed was in the Operations Room.
Though the person on the phone was telling me
about my husband and how serious his injury was,
I asked him about my son! He gave no information
about him, claiming that he did not know anything.
After a while, the doctor called again. This
time he told the truth, but not the whole truth. He
told me that Yahya, my dear son, was in Kamal
Odwan Hospital yet claimed that he knew nothing
about his condition.
