7. Testimony of Fathiya Mahmoud Hammad,
54, Mother of Martyr Rani:1
When the war began on Wednesday, Rani
asked his wife to pack the bag preparing themselves
to move from their apartment to our house, to be
much safer. The next day, I went to the market to
buy something. When I arrived, I saw a crowd of
people next to our home; I did not give that any
attention.
As I entered home, my daughter Hayat
received a text message from her friend, telling her
that Rani was martyred. When she told me, I rushed
out to know that everyone already knew about my
son, except his us.
My husband was sleeping. I woke him
up. Together, we went out to know exactly what
happened .
When I returned home, my daughter, Hayat,
told me that Rani›s wife, Helen, 28, was taken to
hospital to give birth. Rani the baby was born the
same day Rani the father was killed. We called him
‘Rani’ after his martyred father.
Around 12:10 am, an Israeli warplane targeted
a group of people who were in the garden of
Ghazi Salman’s house in Beit Lahia, injuring
five citizens and killing Tahreer Ziad Salman,
22, and Mohammed Talal Salman, 28. Tahreer›s
husband was seriously injured and was taken to
Egypt for treatment.
