calamity. It was hard to bring him for farewell, so I
went to Nasser Hospital along with his sisters to say
goodbye. I left my heart there with the last look I
had at my son. Thanks God for everything.
27. Testimony of Badria Al-Zaini, 29, Sister of
Martyr Hosam:1
I was at my family’s house for my former
knowledge about my brother’s injury due to hitting
his car. On Wednesday, at the middle of the night, I
was sittingwithmy father when I received a call from
Hosam’s friend telling me about his martyrdom. The
only thing I could do was screaming and saying,
‘Hosam was martyred!’ It was never easy to get the
truth of losing him forever!
28. Testimony of Haiam Al-Abadla, 38, Mother
of Martyr Mahmoud Sha’at:2
Since the beginning of the offensive, I did
not leave the radio listening to news about my son
Mahmoud and to check on him. I remember his
speech with me and what he wanted from me when
he was preparing to travel. I asked him to delay his
travel in order to attend his brother Mohammed’s
wedding, and he said, ‘aren’t you afraid that I get
martyred?’ Fate made his departure quick, and
the place that was prepared to hold Mohammed’s
wedding became the place to hold Mahmoud’s
mourning.
