Moreover, some families live at the buffer zones
near the borders, which makes it difficult and
dangerous for the investigation team to go to such
places to document the story of the martyrs. Last
name similarity or resemblance families in the same
region required a lot of efforts and time to get to the
right family.
Another difficulty the team faced was
collecting testimonies from Palestinian doctors,
paramedics, firefighters and psychologists, as many
Palestinian human rights organizations refused to
cooperate with Women for Palestine for no specific
reason. This made the team use material from
B’Tselem.1
Method of Documentation
A historical descriptive approach was used
to account for the events through witness accounts,
followed by extrapolation of the information and
numbers associated with these massacres as well as
the details.
178 martyrs were counted; all of their stories
are documented in this book by talking directly to
their families. Accounts are also taken from several
other witnesses to the crimes; thus, sometimes more
than one narrative is involved.
The name of the narrator, age and degree of
kinship is included.
The narration of the events in minute detail
and chronological order is included.
